How do I know that the water is safe to drink ?

The Pell Lake Sanitary District water utility is regulated by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.  We follow strict testing guidelines and are monitored by the EPA.  You can obtain more information from their safe drinking water web site by clicking here.  A big concern to residents is the fact that low-level amounts of barium have been identified in the community wells.   All regulatory agencies are aware of this and we are testing on a regular basis for barium to monitor this situation.  UNLESS THE PELL LAKE SANITARY DISTRICT SAYS OTHERWISE, THE WATER IS SAFE TO DRINK.  If you would like a detailed explanation of our testing procedures, please feel free to call us or stop by and we will show you what is actually done to ensure the water system's integrity.

How do I hookup to the water system?

Please stop by the office for a connection packet.  In this packet of information will be all of your necessary paperwork and details as to the procedure to follow in order to hook up to the community water system.  Don't forget to ask for a list of plumbers if you don't already have one selected to do the work.

Who will do my connection for me?

The lateral for your water and sewer and any inside plumbing work is the responsibility of the homeowner.  The work must be done with proper permits by a Wisconsin licensed plumber.  For a complete list of plumbers who are already doing work in Pell Lake, contact the office or click here.

What is going to happen if I don't connect to the water system?

Each homeowner will receive a letter when services have been installed to their property line.  This letter will indicate the manditory connection date for the water system for each homeowner.  The date will be nine months from the date of the letter.  You will have until the end of business that day to turn your paper work in or you will be in violation of our ordinance.  If you are unsure of what our ordinances state, please go to our ordinances and resolutions page.  If you are still unsure, please call our office.  The commissioners advise each homeowner to get connected as soon as possible due to the lack of plumbers available to do work at various times throughout the year.  Not having a plumber available will not be an acceptable excuse if your deadline has passed.

When do I need to hookup to the sewer system?

As of November 1, 1999, residents in phases 1 and 2 of the construction project can hook up to the sewer system.  Inspections are still necessary, whether the final connection is made inside the residence or outside the residence.  For more information on this process of connecting to the sewer system, please contact the office.

For residents in phase 3, you are able to hook up at any time.  If you have not received your notice to hook-up, please contact our office.

When are phases 1, 2 and 3 going to be 100% complete?

Phase 1 water, sewer, and restoration is complete as of November 15, 1999.

Phase 2 is complete except for lift station electrical panel upgrades as of November 15, 1999.

Phase 3 is complete as of the fall of 2000.

Please note that the roadways have a 3-year warranty on them and you may see the contractor(s) out here from time to time making adjustments to manholes, valve boxes, and paving as we see necessary.  Please be assured that these are warranty items and you (the taxpayers) are not being billed repeatedly for these "fixes".  The commissioners believe that the project is paid for "once" and not as many times as it is necessary to "get it right".

When will residents be able to hookup to the sewer system?

As of November 1, 1999, residents in phases 1 and 2 of the construction project can hook up to the sewer system.  Inspections are still necessary, whether the final connection is made inside the residence or outside the residence.  For more information on this process of connecting to the sewer system, please contact the office.

For residents in phase 3, you may hook up immediately.  You should have received a notice from us indicating your deadline.  If you have not received it, please contact our office.
